Welcome to Room 109! (Week of 10/15/18)

Did you know that a baby fox can be called a kit, cub, or pup?  Well, that is one of many interesting fox facts that our experts have learned during our study of red foxes so far.  As we continue to read and learn this week, we will discover many new things about these interesting creatures.  Through reading and discussion, we will look at things we can learn about animals by observing them.   Our narrative nonfiction story of the week is called A Fox and a Kit.

Our phonics learning for the week will center on a review of short a, i, and o. We will also learn about finding the main ideas of stories and will continue our look at sentences with a focus on word order (the order of words in a sentence must make sense).

In math we will continue to show parts and wholes of numbers using number bonds. The class will learn strategies to join and separate groups of numbers including acting and using manipulatives.  In other words, we will be developing our understanding of addition and subtraction!
